The Kerem Tunnel allows for a the most unique riding and hiking experience.

The Kerem Tunnel is the first cycle tunnel in Israel and was officially opened in the year 2000 as part the Jerusalem Ring Path, a 42-kilometer cycle route that circles Jerusalem, the capital city.

It links Nahal Refaim to Emek Motza. Its southern entrance is in Refaim Park, below Ein Laban and its northern entrance is in Nahal Ein Kerem, about half a mile from the Kerem junction.

On Thursday, Jerusalem and Heritage Minister Zeev Elkin, Mayor Michael, Avi Baleshnikov, Gihon chairman, and hundreds of cyclists participated in a ceremony to inaugurate the tunnel's 2.1-kilometer-long length.

The Kerem Tunnel first was excavated in the 1990s to create the main sewer line of the Gihon Corporation towards Sorek. It is currently utilized as an infrastructure tunnel which includes the fifth waterline to Jerusalem via the Mekorot water corporation.

To make the tunnel usable to the public all year round the work includes road construction, as well as installation of blowers.
