The way you describe on how to install java mods is incorrect. The reason is that when you place the Java file into the mod folder, it will function as a basic mod until another section in the ".minecraft" folder is used. This is exactly what I mean.

1. Copy/cut the jar file, but don't paste it yet 2. Open the folder for versions, and create another folder. Copy the jar file into the folder you just made. Copy the jar file in the folder and then paste it using another name 5. Open the jar file in notepad, copy all the text and close the file 6. The copied file should be deleted 7. Create another file (most likely a txt file) and name it exactly the same way as the jar file is called 8. Save the file with the same name like the jar files as a.json. Open the json file in Notpad and copy the next 10. Launch the launcher and select the mod you wish to "made."

10,5. If this isn't working If this doesn't work, follow these steps: Open the version folder. Select the folder you don’t need. MINECRAFT SERVERS If the mod is 1.7.10 you'll need locate a folder that runs 1.7.10 minecraft version 12. Paste the jar file in the folde you selected and rename it exactly as the json file is called 13. Start the launcher and choose the version.

If you're unable to locate the folder you're looking for, go back to the folder for versions, check the folder after the last edit and rename it to whatever you like. I suggest that you rename all files in that folder to exactly the same name as the folder.
