There are many options to make the process simple and fast.

DreamCompute is our cloud computing service that can help you set up your own Minecraft server. In just a few easy steps, you can launch your Minecraft server.

In this article, we'll discuss some of the reasons you might want to make your own Minecraft server and cover the technical aspects of the process. We'll then show you three simple steps to get it running with DreamHost. Let's go!

The Benefits of Making Your Own Minecraft Server

Minecraft servers let you play the game either online or in a local network. It's a subset of the larger game you can customize however you like. You are free to use it as you like.

Making your own server has many benefits. First, you have complete control. You can add any mods to your game to make it more personal. Creating a unique environment with these tools can be advantageous if you're looking to start your own YouTube channel.

It doesn't have just to be you. Your server will allow you to create a group. You can invite people you want to join you in-game for a multiplayer adventure. You can also share your custom designs to the rest of the world if you prefer.

To top it all off, creating your own Minecraft server can be a pretty painless experience. You may be surprised at how simple it can be. You can have your own space in no time with a little guidance.

Why You Should Use DreamCompute for Your Minecraft Server

Server hosts are a broad topic. They may seem similar at first glance, especially for those just starting out. You should be aware that there are many important differences before you make your final decision.

The first thing to look for in a host is whether it offers a cloud-based server. These servers don't use up your computer's resources and are generally a better choice to traditional local servers. Typically, this translates to smoother, improved gameplay.

If you have any problems, tech support may be able to help you navigate a cloud server more easily than a local server. You won't have any need to worry about your computer being down for other servers who may want to access it.

Our DreamCompute service offers cloud servers for Minecraft with competitive features. It's suitable for both simple and complex configurations, offering impressive speeds for all users. It also has a straightforward and predictable billing system to prevent any nasty surprises at the end of the month.

It can also be adapted to your needs if you need to modify any aspect or account. You can rest assured that any changes you make will be made with the support they require.

DreamHost's dedicated servers are a great option if you know you want premium performance and control. It offers impressive benefits, such as fully-managed, cross-platform cooperative play. However, if you're just looking for a basic server setup, we've got you covered there too.

How to Make Your Own Minecraft Server with DreamCompute (In 3 Steps)

Once you have all the resources you need, just follow these three simple steps to create your own Minecraft server.

Step 1 - Create a Security Group

First, you will need to create a security team. This is a set of rules that define network access and will allow or prevent traffic into your Minecraft server according to your preferences. Adjusting some settings is all that's required.

Navigate to your DreamCompute dashboard, and click on Expand Network to get started.

Next, click Security Groups and select Create Security Group. This will open a window that allows you to add a name or description. We'll be using "Minecraft" for both in this walkthrough, but feel free to get creative with yours.

Once you're done filling out the fields, click Create Security Group to continue to the next step. You will then be presented with the option to create rules and join this group.

Step 2: Manage Your Rules

In the new group, click on the Manage Rules button on the far right. Next, click on the Manage Rules button to open the following screen.

You don't need to worry too much about the options available on this page. If you want to quickly launch your server, you can simply fill it in the same manner as we did above.

In particular, we recommend selecting Custom TCP Rule as the first field, Ingress as the second and Port as the third. Enter "25565" in the Port field; this is Minecraft's default port.

Next, make sure the bottom two fields are set to CIDR and "0.0.0.0/0" respectively. Once you are done, click the Add button.

Step 3 - Create a Virtual Machine

Virtual Machines (VMs) are required for the final step. Anything with Java will suffice. We'll be using Ubuntu-14.04 for this walkthrough, and we recommend using it if you're unsure which solution to choose.

After that, you can navigate back to DreamCompute's dashboard. Next, click on Instances in the Compute menu. Next, select the Launch Instance button on the far right. The screen will look something like this:

Don't be overwhelmed by all the options. There are only some that you will need. In the top field, under Instance Name, enter your server name. We used "My New Minecraft Server," but you can name it anything you like. Pubg qa

Click Next to move on.

Choose Ubuntu-14.04 from this list. The search function can be helpful here if you're having trouble finding it. To move your selection into Allocated, click on "Up Arrow". To ensure that your instance doesn't run out of disk or storage space immediately, increase the Volume Size (GB), to 10 GB, and then click Next to navigate to the Flavor section.

You can also search the site using the search function to find the exact Flavor you are looking for. We recommend the Lightspeed option, if you're not sure what is best for you. It has 4GB of RAM, making it a solid choice for most users.

Next, select the up arrow next to your chosen Flavor to move it into the Allocated category. Continue clicking Next until the Security Groups section appears.

This section is an easy one. Click on the arrow to the right of the Minecraft security group that we created earlier. It will be listed under the Allocated category, as shown above.

To get to the Key Pair section, click Next. If you've already imported Key Pairs into DreamCompute, you can use the arrow to assign them to your instance. Pubg qa Otherwise, use the "Create Key Pair" button to create a new Key Pair and then assign that Key Pair to your instance (this is used for emergency connections and for making additional adjustments to the MineCraft server).

That should be all you need to do before switching to the Configuration section.

This will bring you to a page with a blank section titled Customization Script. On it, you can copy and paste the below code:

You can also load scripts from a file. However, you may find the copy-and-paste method faster and easier.

Keep in mind, however, that the Xms512M/Xmx2G section of this code tells Java how much memory Java can use to store the Lightspeed flavor we selected earlier. It may not work with other Flavors.

After entering that code, click Launch Instance. Sit back, relax, and give your server a few minutes for the setup process to complete. Your server will now be online and ready for use!

To add your new server, you can open Minecraft by clicking on Multiplayer >Add Server. You can name it however you like and give the IPv4 address for the VM that you have previously set up.

You can modify the default server settings via Secure Shell (SSH), by logging in as "ubuntu". This will give access to the server.properties files, where you can change your message of the day and spawn different creatures. You can also adjust the maximum number players.
