Among the problems with technology is that it often gives us more options than we need, more options than are helpful or useful






In the 21st century, however, things are much different. Not only do we possess DVD, VHS, Blue Ray, and a plethora of other emerging technologies, but today we've got online movie rentals. Having the option to rent movies online sounds like a good thing, but it also complicates things. When you are using an online movie rental, you have to plan everything in advance. You need to know when you are likely to need to watch a movie and order it a few weeks beforehand. This takes preparation.

If which weren't enough, think about the wide variety of online movie rental providers. Some online video rentals simply send the movies to you from the email. Together with other online film rental services, however, it gets more complicated. Some of these offer online movie downloads. You can download a movie from the Internet for a set fee, and then play it back on your computer. Although it's nice to have this option, it poses another set of problems. Having these online movie rental options means you'll have to prepare a TV to watch VHS tapes and DVDs, and set up your computer to watch movie downloads. This certainly makes laying out your living area harder!

I do use online movie rentals, but I remain with the traditional format. For me personally, VHS and DVD are more than enough choices. Maybe someday if a new standard that has higher quality is adopted and becomes the technological standard for the country, I will switch to it. Until then, but my main source for movie rentals is going to be the movie store. Sure, sometimes I buy an online film rental to save cash, or to receive a film that is not available at my local store, but for the most part I would rather have the flexibility of picking a movie whenever I want you.
