What is the Minecraft Forum Server List?

The Minecraft Forum Server List allows Minecraft players to search for the best Minecraft Servers and Minecraft Server operators to search for the best players. There's a wealth of ways to find your new Minecraft home, search by Popularity, Country, Tags and more. Want mcMMO servers? We have them! Creative, Pixelmon and Feed The Beast? These are just a few of the many options available. For a full list of filtering options, hover your mouse over "Other", at the top of the server listing.

If you run a Minecraft server adding your server couldn't be easier! Click Add Server from the Server List homepage and follow the instructions. You can get even more exposure for your server by using the Featured Server Auction system.

The Minecraft Forum Server List is the successor to the now defunct servers.minecraftforum.net website.

What are FeaturedServers?

Servers that have won an Auction to be featured on the site are known as featured servers. Featured servers are displayed on the Minecraft Forum homepage, at the top of the server list and below forum posts. If you're interested in learning more about how the auction process works click here.

How do I vote

Visit the servers page on the Minecraft Forum Server List and click the green vote button, you'll be taken to the vote page for the server, from there you can submit your vote, if the server has Votifier enabled you'll be asked to enter your Minecraft username so that the server can be notified that you have voted. Voting on your favourite server once per day is possible.

How are servers ranked

Servers are ranked based on the number of votes, the more votes a server has the higher it will rank in our list. The order of featured server widgets depends on each server's final position in the auction. Votes don't affect the featured servers list.

Finding a server

You'll find a search box at the top of the server list. From here, you can search by title, tags, and plugins. Alternately, you can see a list with all search options that you can filter by. Click on "Other" at the top of the list and select your filtering criteria. You can select from tags, plugins or Minecraft version, as well as age rating and country. You can suggest a plugin or tag via this form.

List your server

Add your server

Adding a server to the list is a straight forward automated process which requires administrative access to your server. Fill out the information on the Add Server page and once you've confirmed your server can be queried using the "Test Connection" button you need to update your servers MOTD. The MOTD is either set in your server.properties file or with some hosts (such as MCProHosting) it is set via your Control Panel. Once you have set your MOTD, you will need to restart the server.

After your server has been added to the list, you will be taken to a page that allows you to add optional information such as a description, tags and plugins, or upload a banner. While this information is optional, we encourage all server operators to complete their entries. Gaming This will help more Minecraft players find your server and encourage others to join.

You can remove the code from the MOTD after your server is added to the list. The server will remain assigned to you account until your server changes hostname, IP, or both.

If you are unable change your MOTD because of network architecture, please Contact Us. We can use an alternative method to verify administrator authorization.

Edit your server

If you are logged into the account to which your server is assigned, you'll find a green button that allows you to edit the listing. You can access all servers listed on the site from any location by clicking "My Servers", in the drop-down menu at the top right.

Featuring your server

Every two weeks an auction is held to fill the "FeaturedServers" positions on the website. Servers who participate in our auctions have their server promoted to over 6 million unique Minecraft players. Server banners are displayed on the Minecraft Forum homepage and inside the forum threads.

Frequently Experienced Problems

Votes reset

To ensure that our vote count remains constant, votes are reset at the beginning of each month. An all time vote count can be found on each servers listing.

Problems with Connections

To verify that your server is available, we need to send requests to it. These requests can be made from a server with IP 52.22.226.51 (note that this IP address will change in December 2016; please see the notice at top of the page to add both IP addresses into your whitelist). To query your server successfully, you might need to whitelist the IP address of your server that is behind a firewall. Some Minecraft server hosts have firewalls on their servers that are beyond the control of individual server owners. If you are experiencing queries problems and don't own your own server, please contact them to check that they aren’t blocking our requests. Also, ask them to whitelist 52.44.191.1 (note that this IP address will be changing in December 2016; please see the notice at this top and add both IP addresses as whitelists).

If you receive "Failed" when using the Test Connection option, and your server uses multiple servers to load balance players, please contact Curse Support or email us at [email protected]

Third party queries can be used to obtain information from your server. First ensure that your server-port and query.port match, then set enable-query=true in your server.properties file (or via your hosts Control Panel if you don't have access to your server.properties). After editing your server.properties file, restart your server and wait for a few moments.
